Smash Wrestling: Smashing it up

TWO: WrestleMania 2002

So here we are... that time of the year again : it’s Wrestlemania week! If like me, you live in the UK, that means it’s time to stock up on cups of coffee and packets of biscuits, and try and keep awake until the unearthly hour of 5am (although people from the TWO chat room will attest to the fact that I usually kick about until then anyway) and watch Wrestlemania live on TV.

Will this year’s hold up to such preparation? Will it be worth it? Being strictly honest, on paper, it doesn’t look much - but I’m sure, as usual, the WWF will pull out all the stops in front of about 65,000 insane Canadian fans in the SkyDome, and millions viewing at home. Whether this Wrestlemania will live up to the hype is a question yet to be answered.

What Wrestlemania always does is stir up memories of your favourite Wrestlemania moment. My favourite Wrestlemania moment came way back in 1994 at Wrestlemania 10. After an intense feud that started in January (remember feuds that lasted longer than 4 weeks?) Owen and Bret came face to face in the opening match in front of a capacity crowd at Madison Square Garden. Stepping up to the plate, both brothers gave their all in a classic 20 minute match, Owen getting the pin on Bret after an attempted victory roll from Bret was reversed.

The match set the standard for the rest of the show, left both the crowd, and viewers at home breathless. To this day, it remains one of the best matches I’ve ever seen. But hey, that’s just my favourite moment... why not head on over to the TWO forums and share you favourite moment there? I’m sure you’ll find plenty of memories there...

Until next time, have fun, go mad.
