Vince is finally jumping on the bandwagon that WCW started, and ECW perfected... that of using established musical acts to provide the theme music for the wrestlers. Even Hogan has reverted back to his WCW era Jimi Hendrix theme... suddenly, the air guitar is so much more appropriate...
RVD's new music sounds a lot like his music from ECW (Pantera's "Walk") which was among the best entrance music ever... the opening chords got the crowd going straight away. But which stars on the roster really need new music? Test's new theme is diabolical compared to his last one, which was stale anyway. Slayer apparently did record him a new song, but it was turned down by the WWF. Slayer on a WWF show? Now that would have been interesting to see.
Surely The Rock is due new music? He's had variations on the same boring tune for years now, get him up to date. If The Undertaker's a heel now, surely he should drop Rollin' a song that the crowd seem to love... And what about Kane? Never had a change of music since he debuted. A few slight differences here and there, but still the same. I'd put a vote in for Ash's "Burn Baby Burn" for Kane's new music...
Any new theme music will have to go a long way to top my favourite theme music of all time - The Quebecers! Until next time... altogether now : "We're not the Mountieeeeeeees..."
